Digging Clams, Devil Dogs and Celebrating Birthdays

On Saturday my hubby and I went to Ocean Park, Washington to dig clams. We each limited out at fifteen clams each.

The long gray tube is called a clam gun. You drive the tube into the sand and then pull the sand up and hopefully you have a nice clam to show for you work..

Here is a picture of Jim, my husband with the day's bounty.

After digging clams we stopped at a very well known Scandinavian bakery in Long Beach called Cottage Bakery. One of our families favorite treats are what are called Devil Dogs. I don't know why they are called that but the only reason I can think of is after you eat one you feel like you just sinned by eating one of Satan's temptations.

They are kind of like maple bars and are filled with some sort of Bavarian cream...OH MY GOODNESS (are you drooling yet?), then they frost them with a milk chocolate fudgy icing.

Here is my grandson enjoying one of the sinful little desserts...

and my grandaughter enjoying hers.

Then here is the little guy getting into his, yummy for his tummy.

On Sunday we celebrated the May birthdays {2nd, 15th, 16th, and 21st} in our family with a barbeque.
Here are my daughters, Maria and Natasha with each of their sons in front who also celebrate May birthdays.

15 clams is the limit???? Seems like that would just be enough to tease you before you ever got started! And I don't know anything about clams! lol

I had a good sized belly ache from my Devil Dog, but it was still worth it. Thanks for a fun day.
