UNIQUE BLOOM, UGLY PLANT

I love the blooms on this plant...
So big and showy,

but this is the whole plant...not lovin' it so much.

The bottom looks like this most of the time
UGLY AND SPIKY!

Does anyone know the name of it?
I just wish the flowers from it lasted longer.

I have no idea what they are called, but I took pictures of some when we visited the historical cemetery. They remind me of bells.

I don't know the name either, but it's some kind of bulb and you can clean up the bottom of the plant and pull out the old leaves. I bet even later when it's done flowering you can dig it up and separate the bulbs and have more. I think it's kind cool it just needs some love and attention! :)

I have never seen a plant like that before. I'll be interesting to see what it is too!! The blooms are beautiful!

That is bizarre.
The flowers are really pretty and airy.

It's so funny that I came across this pic....a friend of mine just gave me one of these that I planted. She calls it a "yucca" plant. They come back every year and they multiply. They are something you don't see alot that's why I like them!

Yep, it's a Yucca plant. My mother has one that would never bloomed. Last year, it finally was about to bloom and her yard man cut the spikes off! He told her he thought a weed had come up in the middle of the plant. She was sick!

Yes, I have several Yucca's. They are pretty for about a week, then the petals all fall off and you have to cut off the long stems.

Yes, it's a yucca. I have more than I can stand! They send out tubers and then you'll many many more yuccas. We just pulled out about a dozen plants this spring to make room for my container garden. Have no fear, they'll be back "in force" by spring.
