Vintage Birds Nest

I follow a blog called The Graphics Fairy that offers free downloads of vintage pictures (if you haven't had a chance to check her out I would recommend doing it soon, like AFTER you read this post, lol). I found this cute birds nest, which was just black and white. I downloaded it and then colored the eggs with a colored pencil. I also lightly colored the leaves and part of the nest too. I then Mod Podged it onto a canvas that I painted black. I also did a fun technique with the black paint {I explained how I did it below}. Adding some cute blue polka dot ribbon finished off this project.
Look closely at the canvas part and you will see a pattern that I created by blotting the wet paint with a wadded up paper towel to gently lift off some of the paint. Love the effect it made and I apologize that it can't be seen better in the picture. Trust me, it's cool!
I am linking up with Life As Lori for her crafty party.

This is so pretty! I love that you colored some parts, and left some black and white. And the paint technique and ribbon look pretty swell too! Thanks so much for linking this up to Brag Monday.
