Let's Crucify Paula Deen

I AM VEERING A LITTLE FROM MY USUAL TYPE OF POST AND FOR GOOD REASON.  Please read on...

Don't let the title of this post fool you, I do not want to crucify Paula Deen but if the media had it's way there would be a cross all ready for her crucifixion.

I am so disgusted with the way she is being treated, it is like this whole country has gone mad.  If they are trying to make an example out of her for language used 27 years ago then for heavens sake let us all line up behind her and take our lickings too.  Is there anyone anywhere who hasn't said something irreverent, crude, insensitive or racial in their lifetime?  Please step forward I would like to meet someone who is perfect.

Let's not forget black comedians like Chris Rock who blatantly use words like 'Cracker' or 'White Honky' (and worse) in their routines.  Do racial slurs coming from them get the green light?  Or are they OK because they have been oppressed for so long?  I believe slavery was abolished in 1865, that was 148 years ago people.

I will have to agree that the blacks have not been treated fairly in the past and that Martin Luther King,  a  man of God,  was a key person in history that brought about much needed change in the 1960's.  We need to move forward and not get mired down by the past but be the positive change that is needed and to wipe out racism.  And that includes reverse racism.

As for the stores and companies that have decided to remove any and all items related to Ms. Paula Deen I have one thing to say; I will no longer support your businesses (gasp, even Hobby Lobby) and I will no longer watch The Food Network.  Don't forget, some of your companies may be next on the list for the media to take down.

Heaven Help Us!

Amen.
The ridiculousness is beyond belief.

Reverse racism is right.

This comment box needs to be bigger. It is so wrong what is going on with Paula Deen. I am with you on this one. It was a different time back then. No one should be held accountable for youthful indiscretion like that. She has since stopped using "that word" and is a charming, kind southern woman. Let's round up every person who is in public office and fire them if they smoked pot in their youth. Or heaven forbid they used a racial slur 20 some odd years ago. Shame on the media. This country is headed down a slippery slope. Heaven help us.

I so totally agree. Sadly I deleted a friend yesterday who is in a mixed marriage and figuratively crucified Paula and I understood her to a point, but told her we didn't know all the details. Yesterday she posted a picture of Paula that said Wassup my and you know the next word. She tried to justify it saying it was a joke, I said it wasn't funny and deleted her on Facebook, she is now trying to say I am being the bad person, I said no, she showed a side of herself I do not want to be associated with. It is NOT alright for anyone to use that word, but Paula told the truth and the truth will NOT set you free in her case. I like you will not be shopping at these places!

It is my hope that she comes back from this even stronger. Don't know how or when, but I have a feeling good things are going to happen for Paula when this all blows over. Those that have attacked her.. shame on all of you!

I blame the media. It randomly chooses who to "lift" and who to "destroy"...there is no rhyme or reason to it.
I grew up in the South, so I've heard that word coming out of many mouths--both black and white.
Paula Deen will be just fine. She's a bazillionaire; what troubles me about this is how much power the unseen faces of the media wields to bend and mold popular opinion. It's just flat out evil.
