FROM SIZZLE TO FIZZLE

Yep, that would describe my recent adventures with blogging.  I am now one post away from 500 posts and my SIZZLE has turned to FIZZLE.  I know I am not the only one who has lost some enthusiasm for blogging because quite a few of the bloggers I have been following aren't posting quite as much either.

I think it has come time for me to stop putting pressure on myself to post regularly.  I will still continue to follow blogs and comment as often as I can but my personal blog will have posts very few and far between.  Let's call it a blogcation.

'Til next time........................................................

You are right. There are so many that are feeling the fizzle.

I truly love your posts, but so understand.

I'm with ya there. Maybe when I feel better emotionally I'll be a more regular blogger ;) I love your posts so no matter how often you post, I will be waiting!!

I've been going through this all winter. I decided that I'll post when I want and if I want. I think you should do whatever makes you happy. :O)

Hey there, I've been thinking about your blog post ever since I saw it yesterday. For the longest time I've had a link posted on my blog about "blogging without obligation".
It really helped me to let go of the worry about posting frequently. I sometimes have to remember why I want to blog in the first place. I love having a place to write and share bits of our lives with our family and friends. It takes the place of writing to everyone and sending separate e-mails to each one. So anyway it (the blog) has changed from what I intended it to be in the beginning and that's OK. I still enjoy it, but have to control the stress of thinking that I HAVE to do a post.

Anyway the link is here:

Plus I'm copying the info here because the blog author Tiffini Elektra has given permission to use this information in any way you would like to.
The words below are hers.

"After coming across what seemed to be the 4000th or so post on someone’s blog starting with “I’m sorry I haven’t posted in awhile.” I decided it is time to rethink what makes a good blog and the expectations that have come to be part of it. I am thinking that no one should utter those words again . . .and with that thought I give you Blogging Without Obligation.

If you feel the same way feel free to grab the logo, make a logo or whatever you would like to do!

I release all the logos, thoughts and words mentioned here about this concept into the public domain. Take the idea and run with it. . .or walk away. It is all good.

Because you shouldn’t have to look at your blog like it is a treadmill.
Because its okay to just say what you have to say. If that makes for a long post, fine. Short post, fine. Frequent post, fine. Infrequent post, fine.
Because its okay to not always be enthralled with the sound of your own typing.
Because sometimes less is more.
Because only blogging when you feel truly inspired keeps up the integrity of your blog.
Because they are probably not going to inscribe your stat, link and comment numbers on your tombstone.
Because for most of us blogging is just a hobby. A way to express yourself and connect with others. You should not have to apologize for lapses in posts. Just take a step back and enjoy life, not everything you do has to be “bloggable”.
Because if you blog without obligation you will naturally keep your blog around longer, because it won’t be a chore. Plus, just think you will be doing your part to eradicate post pollution. One post at a time. . ."

Blogcation...I like it. All of a sudden, my blog just became more of a burden than a pleasure. I don't even enjoy reading blogs as much as I used to. Maybe I'm starting to remember there's a world outside my computer--and I'm missing it!
