It's Madness, I Tell Ya!

The madness continues 'round here, the last minute push is on...
This stool was a purchase from Goodwill for 3.99.  It was a sad plain brown stool with ZERO personality.  I think it's true potential has been reached.
Side view.  You can't see it but there is "ABC and 123" on the ends.
I had purchased these letters awhile ago and had forgotten about them.  I had some really cute kitchen scrapbook paper that I used to cover them.  Look closed at them, especially the paper on the A, so cute.
Who doesn't love a country Christmas?
Another fun word tree.
And of course, more plates.

And last but not least, some "Believe" blocks.
Stay tuned for more madness as I finish up last minute items.
Remember the two yellow chairs I bought at a garage sale awhile ago?  They are next to get a makeover.

Another Tray Revamp Using Wallpaper

I purchased this plain brown tray from Goodwill for $1.99.

I went to my wallpaper supply and found some pretty paper that matched up with the color of the tray and Mod Podged the paper around the outside edges and in the bottom.
I was not happy with the white backing of the paper showing around the lip of the tray so I added some chestnut ink to finish it off.

This is after I applied the ink. Much better. I also added some very skinny ribbon to finish off the edges of the paper.

I tried to do some staging using the tray but could never quite get it right. Oh well, maybe somebody will buy it at the craft bazaar and do something fabulous with it.

Goodwill and Hunting...Huh?

I recently found this unfinished board "thingy" at Goodwill. (Unfortunately, I taped it off and started painting it before I took a "before" picture, as usual I got in a big hurry to get started.) So anyway, here are the steps I took to make it into a useful message center. Just another angle of the before board.
Here it is after the chalkboard paint was applied. Seems a little boring don't you think?

Adding some scroll work seemed to help it...but I wasn't satisfied yet.

Adding the vinyl lettering was the finishing touch it needed. Now it will be put aside with all of my other makeovers I am getting ready for the bazaar in November.

Shopping at Goodwill, as Forrest Gump would say, "is like eating a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get." I guess I can relate to all of the hunters getting ready for deer and elk season. There is something about the "HUNT" that fuels the adrenalin.
I am off on another hunt for a unique item to do a makeover on.

The Silver Platter Matter...Goodwill Makeover

I love the raised design on the outer edge of this tray, but the tray...not so much. What would you do to improve this Goodwill find?
If you said spray paint...then you would be right.

Miracle in a can, I tell ya. Beige spray paint plus gel stain applied after the paint has dried was what this silver tray needed. I then decided that some vinyl lettering (of course, that is always my best solution) was needed.

I just love giving new life to something that might get thrown out.

Three Makeovers-Before and After

I was able to get three project completed from Goodwill finds. The first one is a wood tray purchased a month or so ago. I scraped off all of the old paint because it was thick and had ridges in it. I repainted it white and then...
painted the center with chalkboard paint. I then added vinyl dots and put "Messages" in vinyl lettering also.

I didn't get this picture rotated before I posted, but you get the idea.

Here are some ugly plastic gold frames that were begging for a makeover.

Painted black and mounting these cute chicken prints from an old calendar was just what these frames were meant to look like.

And lastly, here is a "beauty" from GW.

Srpay painted black (sprayed with primer first) and some vinyl lettering and I have a whole new look for this platter.
