SUMMERTIME CANVAS MAKEOVER

I have had a project bookmarked for quite some time that I wanted to do.  I also had a canvas I made for summertime that I was never very happy with so I peeled off the vinyl lettering and repurposed the canvas in to something new.

Here is the summertime canvas BEFORE...

And here is what I ended up with.

First I peeled off the old lettering then I mixed some beige paint with some dark brown paint to give it a textured look.

I cut out different foilage and flowers from some vinyl on my Silhouette

And began placing the vinyl on the canvas until I was happy with it.

This is what I ended up with but wasn't quite in love with it.

So I added this cute saying.  I have a friend who has been under the weather for awhile, I thought maybe she would like to have it.   Shhhhhh, don't tell her.

Easter Decor

I was reminded by someone (you know who you are) that I haven't posted in almost a week and that I am to provide at least some sort of entertainment for said person.

Also to confirm that I haven't dropped off the face of the earth I thought I would throw up this quick post.

My oldest daughter made (well anyway, she attempted to make one then I butted in and did it for her) a cute Easter canvas. When my youngest daughter saw it she wanted to know where hers was.  So being the guilt ridden nice mother that I am I made one for her too.

I am not sure if you can see it but it is covered in a layer of glitter.  It was just the touch it needed.

Just a quick post with more items for the bazaar.  I am on my last minute push to get things finished so I can begin pricing and boxing up the inventory.

CANVAS PROJECTS: ELEVEN DOWN AND THREE TO GO.

 Another canvas project.  I know it seems like that is all I do but there is a reason why.  You see I started out this week with fourteen blank canvases that needed something done with them.  I am now down to the last three and I MUST get them done.  My goal was to get all canvases completed this week and I might just make it.  (I couldn't sleep last night so I got up at 3:00 a.m. and worked on these three).

When the last three are done that will make a grand total of 36 in the bazaar inventory.

Here are some more ideas for using artist canvas.

Oh, Christmas Tree

I saw a tree similar to this one last year and wanted to give it a try. 

This is what I learned:

1. It was much more time consuming than I thought it would be.
2. I used an 18"x14" artist's canvas as the base.  Vinyl lettering doesn't stick very easily to plain un-prepped  canvas.
3. I used spray paint (RUST-OLEUM, American Accents, Heirloom white) to seal the canvas and hopefully make the lettering adhere better.  Note: it helped a tiny bit.
4. Designing the tree on the computer took about 2 hours plus another 11/2 hours to peel the excess vinyl then another 45 minutes to painstakingly rub each individual letter and graphic to the surface.
5. It was so worth it when I was done, I love it.  {Once the lettering is on the canvas it is pretty secure and won't peel off, unless of course someone takes their fingernail and does it on purpose.}If anyone knows where I might have seen this please let me know as I cannot even begin to remember where I saw it.  I would love to give credit to the original artist.
