Crafting Has Been Put On Hold

Due to canning season my crafting has had to be put on hold. My family has been busy canning together and so far...

26 pints of tomatoes,

26 pints of green beans,

so far 24 quarts and 16 pints of peaches,

(plus another box that needs to ripen).

and 22 pints and 46 quarts of applesauce.

There are still 5 boxes of pears that should ready by the end of the week...lots of work but ohhhhhh so tasty when winter comes. You just can't buy this goodness in the store.

Another Tray Revamp Using Wallpaper

I purchased this plain brown tray from Goodwill for $1.99.

I went to my wallpaper supply and found some pretty paper that matched up with the color of the tray and Mod Podged the paper around the outside edges and in the bottom.
I was not happy with the white backing of the paper showing around the lip of the tray so I added some chestnut ink to finish it off.

This is after I applied the ink. Much better. I also added some very skinny ribbon to finish off the edges of the paper.

I tried to do some staging using the tray but could never quite get it right. Oh well, maybe somebody will buy it at the craft bazaar and do something fabulous with it.

Using Wallpaper For Crafts

I recently posted about my acquisition of wallpaper sample books from Sherwin Williams. Here is one of the crafts I used some of that paper on. I took a simple black frame and spray painted it this aqua color then covered the matte with a coordinating paper. I then applied vinyl lettering onto the glass. I then inserted another coordinating paper to the opening behind the lettering.
Oh, the possibilities are endless with these wallpaper books. If you haven't visited your local paint and wallpaper store to ask about getting some of these books (for free) now might be a good time to do it. They usually pull outdated books around the end of each month.

Our Two Baby Bumps

Here are my two cute daughters-in-law showing off their baby bumps. Randy is on the left and her baby girl it due Sept. 19. On the right is Courtney with her baby boy due on Sept. 21. All I ask is that they don't go into labor on the same day. This is the first baby for both of them so we are very excited to have these two new additions. The part I am jealous about is that neither one has any stretch marks yet.

Once In Awhile...

...I come across something on somebody's blog that makes me do a little jiggy dance. I LOVE THIS IDEA FOR A PLANTER! I found it at Cherry Hill Cottage. Take a moment (or maybe an hour or two) and check out her ADORABLE ideas!!!!!

We Survived!

Hubby and I survived the camp out. First activity was a scavenger hunt. The kids had a lot of fun with this. Next we played some games like sardines, red rover, bate the bear and the hokey pokey. Then it was time for the campfire and s'mores and singing, (although the singing fizzled the s'mores were great).
Grandpa ended the night with everyone in their sleeping bags listening to stories. Most of them were out before the second story began.
Breakfast was doughnuts and hot cocoa.
'Til next year................!

Cousin's Campout Tonight

Tonight hubby and I are hosting a backyard camp (grandpa gets the privilege of sleeping in the tent with them, I will be inside thank you very much) for our grandchildren. There are six of them, a 2 yr. old, 3 yr. old, 4 yr. old, 7 yr. old, and two 9 yr. olds. We have games, prizes, campfire with s'mores, campfire sing-a-longs and maybe a few scary stories. Dinner will be macaroni and cheese and hot dogs with ice-cream cones for dessert. And if that isn't enough junk food we will be buying doughnuts from the bakery for breakfast with some hot cocoa.

Check back in a few days and see if I am still sane.

CALLING ALL SCRAP BOOKERS AND CRAFTERS ALIKE
Have you ever checked out wallpaper books for scrap booking paper?
While purchasing paint at a SHERWIN WILLIAMS I noticed that they had quite a few wallpaper books to look through. On the off chance I asked if they ever sell or give away their outdated books and GUESS WHAT? He told me that they pull old books at the beginning of each month and they usually just throw them away...CAN YOU JUST HEAR MY HUGE INTAKE OF BREATH? So I casually asked if he had any that were going to get tossed any time soon. "Yep, as a matter of fact," he said, " I will pull some for you right now." SCORE!!!! He gave me seven huge books.I posted a few of the papers. (This is only a small fraction of what is in them.) Check them out.

I think I can craft for the next ten years and not use all of what is in them.

Go to your local paint and wallpaper store and see if you might score some for yourself.

A Little Rant

OK, I have a little something that has been bothering me that I NEED to address
Here it is:
I spend a lot of time and energy posting about different things but mostly posting about crafty projects that I have done. This rant does not apply to my faithful commenter's (and I love you all so much)...But this is to all of those bloggers who host bloggy linky parties.
A comment back to us who link up with you would be appreciated, after all we post a link back to your blog which drives other readers to your blog with the potential for you gaining more followers. Now I realize that linking up to your parties also drives readers to our blogs, and that is wonderful, so thank you. I also realize that you may get as many as 200 bloggers, or more, linking to your blog party and commenting back to each one could be very time consuming but please try to comment back whenever possible.

Now, for all of you who link back to our blogs from linky parties if you could just please leave some sort of comment it would be soooooo appreciated. Who doesn't like to get comments? It gets frustrating when you see that 40 or more people have checked out our posts and not ONE person leaves a comment. Even if you have a critique (and please be nice) we appreciate that too. Feedback is a good thing, it lets us know if what we present out into blogland is even worth our time doing it.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OFFENSE IF YOU ARE SOMEONE WHO COMMENTS REGULARLY ON THESE POSTS, BUT YOU ARE THE MINORITY.
I would love to hear your comments on this subject.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.
(Ok, now I feel better)

Midnight Crafting Madness

Here it is 12:35 AM and I am just finishing up a few crafts to add to my bazaar inventory.

Dollar store frame + scrapbook paper + vinyl = fast and easy craft.

I was inspired by a Super Saturday craft from another blog (can't remember where I saw it, sorry) and changed up a few things to make this Christmas project.

Close-up and personal...

again...

and again...

and again...
I made some of these Christmas ornaments a few months back and wasn't quite happy with them.

So I added some glue and glitter.
You can never go wrong with glitter on ornaments, don't you agree?
I am now off to slumber land...goodnight all.

Joining some linky party love, go check out the great ideas being shared.
