HOP ON OVER

For some Easter fun, that is.  I actually used the vinyl that I cut with my Silhouette as a stencil to create these cutsie blocks.
Adding the glitter was the crowning touch, it just made them sparkle, (duh, glitter does actually sparkle, I just couldn't come up with a good adjective to describe how cute the glitter made them).

Here you can see the beige vinyl I used as the stencil.  I then painted the areas the colors I wanted and let it dry.

Then I just peeled up the vinyl.
It actually peeled up pretty well.

I love how crisp the lines are.
After I got all of the vinyl peeled I just painted Elmers Glue-All glue onto the designs and sprinkled with crystal fine glitter by Martha Stewart.

These photo's do not do these justice.  They are so stinkin' cute.
Thanks Shannon for the inspiration.

HISTORY OF APRONS

I GOT THIS EMAIL RECENTLY AND THOUGHT I WOULD PASS IT ALONG.
I don't know where it originated from or who wrote but I love the message.

Notice that a "Medium" is a size 14 - 16

Remember making an apron in Home Ec? Read below:

The History of 'APRONS'

I don't think our kids
know what an apron is.
The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few. It was also because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons used less material. But along with that, it served as a potholder for removing
hot pans from the oven.

It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.

From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids..

And when the weather was cold Grandma wrapped it around her arms.

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow,
bent over the hot wood stove.

Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.

From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables.
After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.

In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.

When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men folk knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.

It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes.

REMEMBER:

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool. Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill
to thaw.

They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron.

I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron - but love...

When the power of love overcomes the love of power, there will be peace!!!!!!

Well that happened to me this evening.  I innocently clicked on Miss Mustard Seed's blog and saw a thumbnail picture of this room.
EVERYTHING about this room speaks to my decorating soul...ahhhhh, the angels sang.
Yes, it was that good.

Hop on over to Cre8tive Designs Inc. for more pictures and the story behind the dresser in the room.

CHARM PACKS FROM MODA

I thought I would pass on a really great idea for making you own crafts, quilts and flowers with already cut fabrics. My friend Christine sells these fabric packs from her web site called Fabrically Delicious.

I love them because;
1.) They are pre-cut into 5" squares.
2.) The guess work of matching fabrics is done for you.
3.) They are great sizes for cutting out flowers.
4.) They are very reasonably priced at $5.00 plus shipping for 37 squares.
Be sure and check out her site for other fabric packs. She also has some of her finished projects posted on her blog so you can see how incredibly cute this fabric is.
