There is just something about this photo that makes me laugh out loud and boy do I need a laugh today.

Does anyone have a caption they would like to suggest for this?

I have a prize (which will probably include vinyl lettering) for the best submission. I will make my decision by Monday,  Oct. 4.

Look Who Came For A Visit

We had two very special visitors last night.  What little angels they are. (Of course I don't have to tell you that.)

Thrift Store Plates to Halloween Decor

I found two of these white plates with the black checkered edges at a thrift store some time last summer thinking I could find something to do with them.  I was inspired to cut out some vinyl and make some Halloween decorations out of them.

Because the plate holder had spaces for three plates I took a smaller plate and added some vinyl bats to accompany the larger plates.

Here is a close up of the two larger plates.

Garage Sale Finds

Here are a few items I found at a city wide garage sale last Saturday:

Two wooden chairs- $12 each (I have great plans for them using vinyl)

An old washboard- $3

And the steal of the day; a 39 piece victorian Christmas village for $10

One large electric roaster-$5

One tall standing lamp- $3

Two new double pane window panels-I also have great plans for them.

Reversible Autumn/Winter Blocks

I did manage to get some crafting done in between babies being born.

I have been wanting to make some reversible blocks for Autumn and Winter since I did the ones earlier for Spring and Summer, you can see those here. Autumn on one side and Winter on the other.


I also managed to get another craft done for the bazaar.

The Stork Made Another Delivery

Our very own Mister William arrived this morning at about 9:30. Here he is getting his first bath, he was only about 20 minutes old. All fingers and toes were accounted for and he is a very healthy little guy.Here is William's mama just last night getting very anxious to have this baby. She was scheduled to be induced this morning at 7:00 but began contractions around 10:00 p.m. and they headed to the hospital around 3 a.m. She did really well but is very tired.

By the way, he was born right on his due date, what an obedient little guy he is.

Little Miss Dawson Has Arrived

Meet our newest grandchild, Dawson Rosalie. She was born 9/18/2010. Hmmmm, it looks like she has discovered her fingers already. Here she is just 12 hours old. Stay tuned for more photo's...plus another grand baby will be here sometime on Tuesday.

Computer Problems

Wouldn't you know it, as soon as I got my new Silhouette both of my computers (the laptop and the desktop) get some ugly virus. As I type my WONDERFUL son-in-law is working on getting the desktop up and going. I hope to get it by Friday so I can get back to crafting and experimenting with the new cutting machine.

For now I have to keep myself busy doing at least something so I have been making a new kind of flower (well, new to me, it is a new technique that I have seen all over blogland). I bought some fabric that is synthetic. I cut out several sizes of circles and clipped the edges then used a striker to singe the edges. I was inspired by the sunflowers I found over at CRAFTY SISTERS blog.

It is really hard to tell but there are six layers of flowers stacked together to make this flower.
Here is one that has seven layers of the same fabric. It is also quite sparkly but it's hard to tell by the photo.


I am anticipating the birth of a granddaughter in the next few days, I can't wait to make these into head bands for her to wear.

Surprise in the Mailbox

I recently won a little contest on my bloggy friend Beverly's blog, The Beverly Buzz.

She challenged anyone who wanted to participate to try and guess words that were spelled as they are pronounced in the South. She called it "Southern Speak". I technically tied with someone else but she chose me as the winner because I lived the farthest away from her (I live in Washington {the state} and she lives in Tennessee) and she reckoned {now there is a southern word for ya} I wouldn't have been as exposed to the southern drawl as the other contender. MY LUCKY DAY!

So this is the box she sent with some fun things that represent the South.

The box included a family published cookbook (those are the BEST kind), the book MORE HOW TO SPEAK SOUTHERN, 2 GooGoo Clusters Supreme candies, some Moon Pies {I haven't had moon pies in years...no, that would be more like decades}, a cute cardinal sachet, a small pin with a religious symbol on it, and a pretty fall oven mitt.

I would have to say that I SCORED!

"HOME" CRAFT PROJECT

I did manage to get a craft made over the weekend using some of the wallpaper I have on hand. Just one more item to add to the bazaar inventory.

Have You Ever Felt My Pain?

Last year I got all inspired by the whole 'black and white' pumpkin craze and spray painted perfectly good orange pumpkins white and proceeded to add black accents thinking they would be so chic.................Guess what? I DID NOT like how mine turned out, I just couldn't make myself love them.

So this year as I pulled out my fall decor it hit me;

this project failed miserably and I just couldn't put them out.

They needed a makeover...BAD!

I had some of these pretty fall paper napkins left from last year and thought they would look much better on these pumpkins. I tore the napkins into different sized pieces and started decoupaging on.

There now, they look more like the fall season instead of the project doomed for the Goodwill box.



Have you ever had a certain project in your mind but when it materialized it looked nothing like you imagined?
Ya, that was my ugly black and white pumpkin experience.

Enjoying The Last Of Summer

With fall in the air I look around my yard and try to take in the flowers and foliage because in another month or so the nights will begin to get cold again and that means the frost isn't too far behind.

I planted this hanging basket back in May with coleus, impatiens, bucopa, creeping jenny and a begonia (which is hidden on the back side). I tenderly watered and fertilized it in hopes that it would flourish. It didn't disappoint. I will enjoy this beautiful basket until I am convinced that it has bloomed it's last blossom.I feel a sadness coming on with having to say goodbye to summer and giving way to fall and winter.
